Human Resource Management SystemsBeyond any project’s materials, equipment, locations, technology, and costs are the people that make any project a reality. Thus, the eventuality of aspects of human resources, operations, and project management principles must go hand in hand to be effective. Human resource management, also referred to as HRM, includes important functions of an organization such as recruitment, placement, training, and guidance for the employees of a company (Heathfield, 2018b). All project and workplace processes that involve people are part of managing human resources. Companies that successfully inculcate an environment of teamwork, collaboration, common trust, and goal setting can build teams with high-levels of morale, motivation, accomplishment, and typically have slower rates of attrition. Operations management involves managing operations, processes, effective use of resources, and aims for successful delivery of projects (MIT, 2018). Managing operations is a crucial part of ensuring a project is executed efficiently and effectively.

Operations managers oversee both project materials and human capital. This is an important function that requires collaboration with both human resources and project management to work properly. Project management deals with all aspects of planning a project as it relates to project scope, budget, and schedule. Project managers are typically responsible for incorporating analytical practices, defining objectives, work breakdown structure, important activities, networks, estimates, schedules, key milestones, project control, and overall profitability (Spirer, 1984). At the core of each of these management practices are principles that guide, differentiate, and assimilate important values and virtues to accomplish any project and helps make companies more successful overall.
